The Academy of American Poets
is for people who love poetry. Our membership is nearly 9,000 strong and growing, and our programs reach over 20 million people every year. Our programs include Poets.org
, the Poets Forum, Poem in Your Pocket Day, National Poetry Month, American Poet magazine, the Poem-A-Day email series, the Poetry Audio Archive, educational initiatives, readings and events, awards and prizes, and so much more. We’ve been doing this since 1934, and we still think it's fun.

This is the hair I should have. This is the hair I might have the next time someone sees me.
I got this perm—this exact perm, I mean—in the 5th grade (c.1984/5). I used to be called Sandy then (Sandy Miller). Sandy (Olivia Newton John) got this perm in “Grease” (c. 1978) after Danny (John Travolta) won the drag race at Thunder Road.
The Thunder Road scene in “Grease” was filmed in the Los Angeles river basin—between the 1st & 4th street bridges. Very close to the Chris Kraus guest haus.
I should now like to practice saying “stud.” I really really want this hair.
Please don’t call me Sandy. For some reason, I don’t like it.
