The Academy of American Poets is for people who love poetry. Our membership is nearly 9,000 strong and growing, and our programs reach over 20 million people every year. Poet & activist Joshua Clover & eleven students are facing prison time for participating in a peaceful protest at the University of California-Davis “in defense of public funding of the University and against the replacement of that funding by private contracts with corporations,” according to Alternet. That protest resulted in the quite welcome withdrawal of US Bank from the Davis campus.
